responding to life with creativity + curiosity

{please enjoy this peek into my contemplative, process-led art + makery}

what i’m making :

  • Spirals + Waves {watercolour study}

    The spiral is a significant symbol for me. It symbolises creation, fluidity, perpetual movement, transformation, impermance and the continuous cycles of life. It's a fitting metaphor for the ongoing process of soul-making that we're invited to participate in on this human journey.

    When we say "yes" to Life and growth, this includes a "yes" to impermance, releasing old ways of being, and being open to the next turn of the wheel/ spiral. Watery waves and spirals feel like good companions for this process, and all it asks of us.

    May we learn to move with both ebb and flow, seed and uprooting. Everything belongs. All is held.

  • Fingal Bay {watercolour study}

    Camping at Fingal Bay, playing in my sketchbook. Trying to capture the way the water and waves, and the way the sunlight sparkles on the water here make me feel.

    The clear blue /green water and the gentleness of the late winter sun are such a welcome gift. Gratefully received.

  • wildflower solace {gel-print collage}

    This is a significant piece for me. It’s a collage made with wildflower stamps I drew and made myself. It is printed with my mini gelli plate, then collaged.

    Underneath it is an old piece I painted over because it reminded me of a great loss. I wanted to make something beautiful and more true. Layers of life and loss, interacting and integrating.

    So this piece is one of my favourites. It’s about trusting and loving that which can never be lost. And which will always be wild and free.

  • colour play + collage

  • pocketfinds : infinity of acorn + oak

    viriditas. it’s an old mystics’ word, used orginally by Hildegard of Bingen. it is the Greening of all things.

    it is the Life energy beneath all living things.

    when i found this infinity symbol next to acorns + oak leaves on an early morning walk, it spoke to me of the hope that is held within the cycles and seasons of growth, impermanence and change.

    oak trees + acorns.

    viriditas.

  • Mama Bear watches over you

  • waiting with Her as she grows new life

  • pieces of us

  • wondering

    i’ve been in a time of exploring, experimenting, and trying new things. faffing around, exploring Mystery and Unknowing through a process-art session in my sketch book.

    searching: for a way to express what it’s like to be me, now

    and: how do i want to share myself and love the world, when so much has changed, so much is still in process, and some things are still not ready to be shared? (perhaps never will be).

    this is not a polished, neat, fancy Thing. and i like that. it’s a reflection of the value and dignity of Unknowing. that some things, especially the most sacred things, sometimes need space, shelter, and solitude to form and transform: again, again, again, continually.

    soulcrafting: contemplating. being with and befriending the questions. finding ease, and solace, through slow, sacred space to be and become.

  • soul feels

    this one feels like gentleness, solace, peace.

    perhaps there’s more layering to add, for now, i just enjoy contemplating this piece.

    (coffee, watercolour, ink, posca).

  • coffee, watercolour, ink

    pools

    still waiting to see what comes next with this piece. not sure which way up she wants to be. i have a hunch there are more layers needed for this piece, but we’re not ready to add them yet. pausing here for now, while i listen and reflect.

    i love that this piece is a do-over, where i applied gesso to cover up an old piece that no longer felt good to me. speaks to me about our continual process of change and impermanance.

  • land & sky

    blues, greens, shimmering bronze and pinky hues. no real plan, just playing with shapes and swirls. enjoying relaxing and the ease of process art.

    (watercolour, sharpie, posca pens)

  • leaf play

    inspired by a friend, i decided to challenge myself and pratice my drawing skills. i was encouraged to see my progress during the session.

    rewarde myself with some relaxing watercolour work over the top of this little leaf study.

    (watercolour, lead pencil).
